Jesus Festival 2017 Outreach Report

JFEST was an unbelievable success! We were hoping and praying that God would move in a mighty way, and He answered our prayers.

Each morning started with the volunteers gathering at Calvary Chapel El Centro to pray for the coming day's festivities. Then a group of volunteers known as the Street Team was sent out to the surrounding neighborhoods. Their job was to go door to door, spreading the word about JFEST to kids and their families. The Street Team was very successful in their mission, as we saw an average of well over 100 kids attend JFEST each day. "It was great," said Josh, who was a member of the Street Team. "It was a testament of God's glory to see so many kids who came from lost families or broken homes in such a bad area come to Christ. [It] was so eye-opening and beautiful."

Josh's enthusiastic attitude and giving heart made him a valuable member of the Street Team.

After the Street Team completed its task of spreading the news, the kids started pouring in each day around 11 a.m. Upon the completion of the sign-in process, the kids were greeted by a group of volunteers known as the Runners. A Runner's job was to have a welcoming attitude and a warm smile as they guided the kids to the main tent for a time of worship, and then to their respective stations based on their grade. These stations included Games, Teaching, and Crafts. Each child had a chance to visit each station throughout the day. There was plenty of fun to be had at all the stations, but the best part is the fact that the gospel was preached at each one. Chad, the Jr High Coordinator at CCEA and a volunteer at the Teaching station, had a first-hand glimpse into what God was doing in the lives the kids as a result of the gospel being proclaimed. "The coolest part was seeing the junior high and high school students' joy [throughout the day]," he said.

"My JFEST experience was beyond what I had prayed for and expected...Though JFEST is over, this just the beginning! Praise be to God!" - Kristen

The Games team was incredibly effective at making JFEST that much more vibrant and enjoyable for every single child in attendance.

Kristen, tasked with leading the Game station, excelled at making sure the kids had fun all week long.

After lunch, we ended the day with a few songs of worship, which the kids absolutely loved. It was so powerful to see over a hundred kids singing and dancing for Jesus! There's no greater joy than to see firsthand God move in power and grace on a grand scale.

Thanks to an awesome Food Team, a tasty lunch was served every day..

As the dust settles from all God did last week, we ask that you continue to pray that God would work in the hearts of those who made a profession of faith, and that they would know the love of Christ and learn to grow in God's grace each day. Pray that Calvary Chapel El Centro's efforts to reach out to the surrounding community would be more effective and fruitful because of JFEST, and that they would be used by God to continue the work that He started during the week.

Praise be to God who took this event and used it to glorify His name! It has us excited for what next year's JFEST will bring!

The kids were also treated to the Crafts station, where they we able to put their creativity to good use. Each day offered a different craft opportunity, including cross necklaces and watercolor paintings.

 Every craft was gospel centered.

This year's JFEST was out-of-this-world awesome. The gospel was preached, souls were saved, and God's love was shown in the lives of everyone involved.

Thank you so much to all who volunteered, donated, or prayed for JFEST. God's name was glorified and Jesus' love was proclaimed because of your sacrifice! We praise God for all that He did through this outreach and for giving all the volunteers the grace and strength to serve our local community. The seeds of the gospel that were planted will no doubt grow and produce fruit.

We ended each day just as it began: with worship.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19-20
