Are You Being Deceived? | HS Girl's Conference 2019
Lies Young Girls Believe | Girl’s Conference
We feel good? It’s gonna be a good day. We feel bad, depressed, ugly, moody, irritable? It’s gonna be a horrible day- for us and everyone we come in contact with.
A lot of the times we let our thoughts and emotions control us because that’s how we our feelings are real, right? Wrong! Did you know that about 90% of the thoughts you think are not real, most of those are the enemy telling you something about you, your life, your relationships, your body image, your family etc. that he knows you’ll believe about yourself.
The Lies Young Girls Believe conference is a topic that weighs deeply on my heart for so many reasons. But one of the main reasons is because I’m so tired of seeing girls constantly believe what the enemy says about them as truth. But it’s not only young girls, it’s women - it’s me. We’re constantly believing everything we see on social media as truth, what our friends say about us as truth, what that boy we like says about us as truth, when the only truth we should believe is God’s Word because that’s the only thing that’s true 100% of the time.
When the Lord told me that this was going to be the topic for our girls high school conference, I was nervous. Because just like most girls, I struggle with this as well. I sometimes let my emotions rule over my attitude or day, which then pours out unto the people I love. We can control our thoughts and emotions, and the bottom line is to remember that when it comes to God, His priority is to make us holy. But still, you are in charge of your own emotions.
Feelings aren’t always bad, I mean, great things come out of feelings like compassion, empathy, passion, motivation. These feelings come from God when we have submitted our feelings to Him.
The goal for this conference is to teach these young girls how to battle not only their feelings, but also show them what it looks like to overcome the enemy in a practical sense.
Everyday is a new day. Every day brings new tests for us. Will we submit to God? Or will we live by our feelings?
