PLAN YOUR FIRST VISIT
Let’s be honest, it can be a scary and nerve racking thing to go into a youth group for the first time. Not knowing anybody and having to make new friends, and also trying to figure out where do I go and what do I do can be fun for some, but anxiety inducing for others. That’s why we’ve made it possible to plan your first visit with us. By planning your first visit with us, it will allow us to coordinate with you to make sure your first experience with us is as comfortable as possible. You will simply choose a date, provide your contact information, and your grade, a leader that oversees your specific grade to contact you before you even step into your first service. Then at your first service, they will be able to introduce you to our Pastors, leaders, and even other students in your grade.
(Note: I was personally homeschooled K-12, and I didn’t have any friends my age besides my family and the cashiers at the super markets we would frequent. Needless to say, my first time into this youth group was terrifying. That’s why I’ve made this process available, to make your first experience the least terrifying and awkward as possible. - Pastor Josh)
JUST SHOW UP
Is planning your visit and providing information before arrival not your style? No problem! You are more than welcome to just show up! We have hosts, leaders, pastors, and even students who will do their best to welcome you and answer any questions you might have.
WHAT TO EXPECT
When to arrive
We suggest to arrive 5-10 minutes before service to connect with our leaders and the students who arrive early. If you arrive on time or a bit late, that’s no big deal either.
Who are our YOUTH Pastors
Pastor Josh Terada is our Youth Pastor who oversees both High School and Jr. High Ministries. (@joshterada)
Pastor Darrell Chambers is our High School Pastor who helps to oversee the High School Ministry. (@darrellchambers1)
How to find the Youth Room
Both the Youth Room and the Jr. High room are located upstairs. The best way to find the stairs on Sunday is to go through the doors that all the “Youth” flags are located, and on Wednesdays enter through the entrance closer to La Palma.
What to wear
Some dress up in their Sunday’s best, others come in flip flops. You are welcome to come as you are!
WHAT TO EXPECT IN A SUNDAY SERVICE
Our standard service starts with four songs of worship, then we break into small groups divided by grades, then combine High School & Jr. High students together for a message by Pastor Josh or Darrell in the Youth Room.
HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE AT SERVICES
Our second service at 11am is substantially larger than our first service at 9am. We average about 50-60 youth students first service, and 70-90 youth students second service.
We also have a Wednesday Night service we call “Midweek”
Our Midweek service on Wednesday evenings is at 7pm, and is much more of a family kind of atmosphere. It’s a great service to connect with other students at and to develop friendships. We do not offer a way to “plan a visit” to a Wednesday Evening service however you can contact Pastor Darrell (High School) or Pastor Josh (Jr. High) for information or to coordinate a visit as well!
