Digital Parent Pack

Partner with us for the good of your family & the glory of God!

Dear Parent,

If you’re reading this, it’s because you care deeply about your children and about the Kingdom of God. We are honored to come alongside you in serving your family and reaching others together.

Since 2010, it has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to serve in Youth Ministry here at Calvary Chapel East Anaheim. Over the years, one truth has only grown clearer to me: parents are irreplaceable in the lives of their teenagers, and they are essential to the health of the youth ministry as a whole. Now, as a father myself, I see this more than ever. Parents aren’t only vital in the household—they are vital in the family of God.

Even if you never personally attend a youth service, your trust in the Lord and your trust in what He is doing through this ministry make everything possible. Time and again I’ve watched God use the faith of a parent—believing that God could move in their child’s life—as the seed that produced lasting fruit, even eternal life.

You are also the Lord’s representatives to so many other parents and families in our church and beyond. That’s why our heart is to partner with you: so that together we can serve your children well and build the Kingdom of God in this next generation.

In this Parent Pack, you’ll find clear information, helpful resources, and direct contacts so that you can not only be confident in how we serve your children, but also be equipped to represent this ministry to other families.

We love your kids. We value you. And we’re excited to walk with you as God continues His work in and through this next generation.

  • 1. Worship Together
High school and junior high students begin the service together in live worship, led by our student worship team under the direction of Worship Leader Hunter Chambers. During this time, students can also respond by filling out a Seek Card—a simple way to ask for prayer, submit Bible questions, or seek advice. Pastor Josh personally prays over and responds to each card. Our goal is to create an environment where students can truly worship God in Spirit and in truth, while knowing their questions and prayers matter.

    2. Bible Teaching
After worship, the students separate by age group. Both Jr. High and High School receive verse-by-verse teaching through a book of the Bible. We place full dependence on the Holy Spirit to work through the teaching of God’s Word. Over the years, we’ve consistently seen God transform lives through the simple yet powerful teaching of Scripture.

    3. Small Groups
Following the message, students gather in small groups divided by grade and gender, led by trained leaders who care deeply for them. This is where community comes alive—truths from the study are discussed and applied, prayers are shared, and Christ-centered friendships are formed and strengthened. Small groups are the heart of discipleship and mentorship in our ministry.

    4. Fellowship & Community
Our prayer is that students would “come as friends and stay as family.” From the moment they walk in, we want them to feel welcomed, wanted, and loved—because they are. Beyond that, we desire that they would be drawn into the family of God through faith in the Gospel, grow in their walk with Him, and find joy in serving alongside others. Before and after each service, students are encouraged to connect, talk, pray, and enjoy fellowship. Leaders and pastors are always present to engage, minister, and shepherd during these times.

    Weekly Opportunities

    • Wednesdays at 7pm – Our largest and most vibrant gathering, the best entry point for new students.

    • Sundays at 9am & 11am – A more intimate setting. Every other week, Jr. High and High School either meet together or separately for teaching.

Whether it’s a Wednesday night or a Sunday morning, you can expect your student to be cared for, taught the Word of God, and given the space to grow in their relationship with Christ.

  • Small Groups

Small groups are where big truths become personal. Students meet in gender- and grade-specific groups led by trained leaders who care deeply for them. These groups are a safe place to ask questions, pray for one another, build friendships, and learn how to apply biblical principles to everyday life. This is the heart of discipleship and mentorship in our ministry.

  • Your student’s safety and spiritual growth are our top priorities. Every leader in our ministry is carefully selected through interviews, processed through a Live Scan Background check, and have shown a track recored of commitment and consistency in their relationship with God.

    • Leaders Who Care – Each small group is led by adult leaders who are committed to caring for their students, fostering a Christ-centered community of friendships, and praying for them. Many of them serve week after week for years, building lasting Christ-centered relationships.

    • Safety First – All leaders go through background checks and a thorough vetting process before serving. Accountability and clear policies are in place to ensure that every environment is safe, transparent, and healthy.

    • Trained for Discipleship – Leaders receive ongoing training in mentoring, discipleship, and caring for teens in today’s culture. They are here to not only teach the Bible, but to be examples of it, pray with students, and walk with them through life’s challenges.

You can be confident that when your student attends youth group, they are surrounded by adults who love Jesus, love teenagers, and are committed to their safety, growth, and care.

  • Monthly Activities & Events

Alongside our weekly gatherings, we believe that shared experiences outside of regular services give students the chance to encounter God in fresh ways, build Christ-centered friendships, and create lifelong memories. That’s why we plan a consistent rhythm of activities and special events throughout the year.

    • Monthly Activities – Each month we host one event for Jr. High and one for High School. These range from fun outings and game nights to worship gatherings and service projects. The goal is always the same: to strengthen community and encourage students to grow in their love for the Lord.

    • Retreats – Twice a year (winter and summer), we take students on a 3-day, 2-night retreat in Big Bear. These retreats are a highlight of the year—providing time to unplug, encounter God in a powerful way, and deepen friendships that last far beyond the weekend.

    • Baptisms – Baptism is one of the greatest celebrations of the Christian life. While we offer baptisms at our services upon request, about twice a year we gather at the beach or in a local home for a special baptism service. These moments are filled with joy as students publicly declare their faith in Jesus Christ.

    • Outreach Opportunities – Throughout the year, we give students opportunities to serve and share their faith through outreach events. These experiences help them live out the gospel in their schools, neighborhoods, and communities.

Together, these activities and events create a healthy balance of fun, fellowship, and faith—helping students grow as disciples of Jesus and as part of the family of God.

  • Dear parents,

First, thank you for entrusting us with the honor of serving your child. As a father myself, I know what a big deal that is. If you are here, I pray it’s because God has used our ministry—by His grace and Spirit—to positively impact your child’s life.

You are irreplaceable in your child’s walk with the Lord, and you are deeply important in our ministry as well. If you’d like to partner with us, there are many ways to get more involved—whether that’s helping represent Christ to students, providing transportation, hosting events at your home, helping with setup and teardown, using your creative gifts, supporting sports events with refreshments, or countless other practical ways to serve.

I know life is busy, so I want you to know how much I appreciate you taking the time to consider this. It is never taken for granted. May God be glorified as we serve Him together!

    —Pastor Josh Terada
